A rare opportunity came up for the students of HDHM to see inside the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. It was a good chance to equip students with professional knowledge of Tourism Management outside the classroom. Besides, it was nice to have Mr Justin Tung, Marketing and Communications Manager from Worldwide Cruise Terminals introducing various facilities

Mock Exam “Luncheon for Guests” for HDHM students

After months of study for the course Food Production, it is time to give a trial to “taste” students’ skills. A mock exam “Luncheon for Guests” was held for the students of HDHM with their seniors’ (BBAHM students) assistance. Prof Annie Bligh (Provost), Prof William Bligh (Assistant Professor of Health Sciences), Prof Susana Yuen (Head of DBHM), Prof K.H. Chan (Professor of DBHM) and colleagues of DBHM were invited to the luncheon. Students were doing great and all of us were having a joyful lunch.

An Info Session was held on 27 March 2019. It was our honour to have Dr Danny T.F. Wan, our External Adviser, to join the event. He is the member and Hon Advisor of Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch (CIH APB), and the Managing Director of Han’s Real Estate (HK) Limited. He was not only sharing about the outlook of the Property Management Industrial sector, but also the latest news about the Industry on that night.

Department of Business and Hospitality Management – Staff Development Retreat

A Staff Development Retreat was held for BHM colleagues. The objective was to foster our team on discussion the impacts of technological development on programme curriculum. We are so deeply honoured to have Dr Brian Lo (Consultant of APT Satellite and Chief Commercial Officer of APT Mobile SatCom Limited), Mr Simon Lam (General Manager of ALVA Hotel by Royal), Mr Sammy Yip (Director of Operations of ALVA Hotel by Royal) and Mr Ben Wong (General Manager of Global Alliance Networks Limited) as our Guest Speakers. Their presentations had been enlightened us in terms of teaching and course development.

The gathering with our President, Dr. Kim Mak, the Senior Management of CIHE and CBCC (including Prof Annie Bligh (Provost), Dr Dennis Law (Vice-President (Academic and Quality Assurance)) and Mr Manhoe Chan (Vice-President (Resources & Finance)) together with Prof Susana Yuen (Rita Tong Liu Dean of School of Business and Hospitality Management) on 25 February 2019. Students expressed their opinions on the academic and/or administration issues and arrangements that will enhance and facilitate their studies and career development.

Visit by the Federations of Parent-Teacher Associations of 18 Districts (6 Oct 2018)

The delegation from the Federations of Parent-Teacher Associations of 18 Districts paid a visit to CIHE & CBCC on 6 Oct 2018, learning more about our programmes as well as our teaching and learning facilities. Spending a morning at our campus, they mingled and had luncheon with our academic staff members.

“Caritas Character Building” Wofoo Leadership Training Scheme is underway

Collaborating with Caritas Youth and Community Service, we have launched a “Caritas Character Building” Induction Program for our new students. The program runs repetitively for 6 Saturdays (8/9/2018 – 13/10/2018).In the past two Saturdays, students from Business and Hospitality Management, Humanities and Languages, General Education and Language Studies, Design, Computer and Information Sciences experienced a day full of sweats, challenges and laughter. Through the activities, they understand oneself better and the role of every teammates as a team. We look forward to the participation of Students from School of Social Sciences and Health Science in the coming 4 Saturdays.

The visit of Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch (CIH Asian Pacific Branch) Accreditation Panel Members


Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch (CIH Asian Pacific Branch) accreditation panel members visited the Department of Business and Hospitality Management, Caritas Bianchi College of Careers. Professor Susana Yuen, Department Head, introduced our programme “Professional Diploma in Property Management (PDPM)” to the panel.

The delegation of CIH Asian Pacific Branch includes Mr Wong Hin Nang, General Manager, Mr Sidney So, Vice Chairperson (Education and Training Committee) and Mr Matthew Ng, Training Officer.

Congratulations to our Football Society

The final round of 2017-2018 Jockey Club Futsal Cup was held successfully on 8 July 2018 at MacPherson Playground.

The CIHE & CBCC Football Society won 1:0 playing against Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) at the elimination round to enter the semi-final. Vocational Training Council (VTC) won the championship, the first runner-up went to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the second runner went to The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). Our Football Society got the third runner-up.

Congratulations to our Football Society on their achievement and we wish them leaping higher in their future competitions!

Congratulations to our Adventure Walk Association

The 3rd Education University of Hong Kong HK Inter-school Floor Curling Tournment was held on 6 July 2018 at the Education University of Hong Kong. Our Adventure Walk Association sent two teams to participate. Team A, which is led by Chu Pak Yin, the President of the Association, won the third runner-up.

Congratulations to our Adventure Walk Association on their achievement!

Team A student Hung Ka Ho, Cheung Lap Kan, and Wong Chung Ho received the certificates and gifts at the Prize-giving Ceremony.

Team B student Ton Chung Han, Wong Chui Yee, and Yim Hoi To received the certificates of participation and gifts at the Prize-giving Ceremony.

Congratulations to our Light Volleyball Team

The final round of 1st Caritas Cup Light Volleyball Competition was held successfully on 30 June 2018 at Multi-purpose Sports Centre, CBCC Campus.

After round robin tournament, both Boys and Girls team of Hong Kong Baptist University (BU) won the championship. Whereas, the boys’ first runner-up went to Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE), and The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) got the second runner-up. The girls’ first runner-up went to Vocational Training Council (VTC), and the Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) got the second runner-up.

Congratulations to our Light Volleyball Team on their achievement and well done to each team players for their contribution!

“Professional Diploma in Property Management” is jointly run by Hong Yip Service Company Ltd. and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers


Hong Yip Service Company Ltd. (Hong Yip) and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC) will work together to provide a scheme called “Earn as You Learn” for students who study Professional Diploma in Property Management. It aims to provide job positions as customer service assistant in Hong Yip for eligible students who may be promoted as assistant customer service officers when they graduate.

Dr Kim Mak, President of CBCC & CIHE, and Dr Aaron Chiang, Head of Human Resources & Administration, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on 27 June 2018. Professor Annie Bligh, Provost, Dr Law Chung Sea, Vice-President (Academic and Quality Assurance), Mr Manhoe Chan, Vice-President (Resources and Finance), Professor Susana Yuen, Head of Department of Business and Hospitality Management, Dr Eric Luk, Associate Head of Department of Business and Hospitality Management, and Mr Samuel Kwok, Training & Development Manager also attended the ceremony.

1st Caritas Cup Light Volleyball Competition


The preliminary round of 1st Caritas Cup Light Volleyball Competition was held successfully on 23 June 2018 at Multi-purpose Sports Centre, CBCC Campus. Five higher education institutions, which included UGC-funded universities and self-finances institutions, formed a team of 5 to 10 players respectively to participate in the competition.

The CIHE & CBCC Girls Light Volleyball Team won a game when playing against CULV Team and lost two games when playing against Hong Kong Baptist University (BU) and Vocational Training Council (VTC).

The team will play for the 2nd runner-up on Saturday, 30 June 2018 at 1:00pm in Multi-purpose Sports Centre, CBCC Campus vs. CULV Team. In addition, the CIHE & CBCC Boys Light Volleyball Team will play against The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) at 12:20pm and Hong Kong Baptist University (BU) at 1:00pm. All CIHE & CBCC staff and students are highly encouraged to come and cheer for the teams!

2017-2018 Jockey Club Futsal Cup (Higher Education Division)


The preliminary round of 2017-2018 Jockey Club Futsal Cup was held successfully on 21 April 2018 at Tin Shui Wai Soccer Pitch. Twelve higher education institutions, which included UGC-funded universities and self-financed institutions, formed a team of 5 to 20 players respectively to participate in the competition.

The CIHE & CBCC Football Society won two games when playing against Chu Hai College of Higher Education (1:0) and The Open University of Hong Kong (2:0), and lost one game when playing against City University of Hong Kong (0:6).

The society will play in the final round on 8 July 2018 (Sunday) at 10:45am in MacPherson Playground (Pitch B) vs. Hang Seng Management College. All CIHE & CBCC staff and students are welcome to come and cheer for the team!

Catholic Secondary School Principal and Career Master Visit


A thirty-person delegation of Principals and Career Masters from Catholic secondary schools visited CIHE on 6 January to learn more about the programmes offered by the Institute and its future development. Vice-President Ms Leung and Director of Student Affairs Dr Ng introduced the newly launched GET-SET-GO scheme and Project Goal scholarship scheme respectively. The delegation had a chance to visit CIHE’s Nursing and Dispensing Labs as well.


President Mak thanked the delegation for visiting CIHE and presented souvenir to Principal Lam (Tung Chung Catholic School).


Vice-President Ms Leung explained how the GET-SET-GO scheme can provide support for students in higher education and employment.


Principal Lam (Tung Chung Catholic School), Principal Lau (Tuen Mun Catholic Secondary School) and Principal Siu (Pui Shing Catholic Secondary School) all showed their support to the scheme!


Director of Student Affairs Dr Ng introduced the Project Goal scholarship scheme. Upon recommendation from school, students with financial difficulties and a total DSE score of 13 and above (from the best five subjects) will be given a deduction of tuition fee for studying five of the Bachelor’s degree programmes offered by CIHE.

2017 CIHE & CBCC Information Day

The Information Day of CIHE and CBCC was successfully held on 17 and 18 November 2017, with great participation from the public. The Information Day featured a wide range of events organised by our Schools and Departments such as admission talks, consultation sessions, campus tours, workshops and demonstrations. Over 500 visitors including secondary school students, teachers and walk-in parents visited our campuses and participated in our activities. They also met with our academic staff and students to learn more about the programmes we offered and our latest development.

Exhibitions
Students were very interested in interactive media installation demonstrated by the School of Computing and Information Sciences. Department of Design showcased design work done by our alumni.

Performances
Talented teachers from the Department of General Education and Language Studies performed music live shows in 24-hour Zone. A lot of students got attracted to enjoy the performances.

2017 Joint Graduation Ceremony
2017 Joint Graduation Ceremony of CIHE and CBCC was held on 16 November 2017. Bishop Michael Yeung, Chairman of the Board of Governors, officiated the Ceremony. Members of the Board of Governors and Council, and honourable guests from different sectors attended the Ceremony to share the joy with the graduates.

Mr Denis Chang, Chairperson of the Council, delivered a welcoming address, sharing his views on education with the graduates. He encouraged the graduates to have faith and pursue moral excellence. He also highlighted the importance of listening to different opinions, hoping them to become the youth with conscience, good character, knowledge and broad mind. Dr Mak, President of the Institutes, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates this year as well as introducing the new campus and future plans of the Institutes.

After a graduate representative gave a vote of thanks, Rev John B Tsang, Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Governors, led a thanksgiving prayer. The ceremony ended with the singing led by Saint Francis Choir.

CIHE and CBCC will continue nurturing talents to contribute to the betterment of the society. Congratulations to all graduates! We wish you every success in your future endeavours!








Memorandum of Understanding with CIOL on Nov 13
Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and Caritas Institute of Higher Education & Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CIHE & CBCC) are going to work together collaboratively through the Higher Education Language Partner Programme to promote the value of language learning and the benefits of joining an internationally recognised professional body. Witnessed by Prof. Annie Bligh, Provost, Dr Law Chung Sea, Vice-President (Academic and Quality Assurance), and academic staff from the School of Humanities and Languages, Dr Kim Mak, President of CIHE & CBCC, and Ms Ann Carlisle, CEO of CIOL, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on 13 November 2017, signifying the start of the three-year collaboration between the two parties. Not only does the Programme improve the competence of CIHE & CBCC’s language programmes, it also provides students with a channel to obtain, upon assessment, recognition of language proficiency from a UK body.

New Chief Executive, New Housing, New Possibilities: Conference on Asian Grassroots Housing Policies
Subdivided flats have been the social agenda in the past few years. However, It seems there are no solution by the government in releasing the housing needs of residents. In viewing the new Chief Executive has elected in the end of March, and the new government will be formed soon, the CFE and Platform jointly organise this conference and invite distinguished guest speakers from Taiwan, Seoul and Hong Kong to discuss the grassroots housing situation and experience among Asian cities. It hopes the conference can widen the horizon of participants and provide solutions for coming new government.
